“Like it's on Rails”

The cliche quote everyone hears when a car reviewer drives an Audi. "It drives like it's on rails." I never really understood what they meant. Until I got the chance to drive an Audi. The suspension, the way the body settles, and the perfect delivery of power to all four wheels, it's what locks the car into the perfect turns.  Wherever you point is where you shall go, of course so long as you have the cajones to push the car hard enough. But there is always more to be had. As perfect as Audi's suspension is it can still be improved. They are luxury cars first you know. That's why modifications can only make the car feel better. No matter how many people say you are "ruining the car" or "it will drive worse" they don't know. They've never driven an Audi before. They don't know that the more power it makes the faster you can surge out of the turns. They don't know that lowering the car by 2 inches helps the suspension settle faster. They don't know how true the statement "it drives like it's on rails" is.
