Top 10 Best Audi's to Buy
One of the most important things (for me) before buying a car is knowing how easy it will be to work on. So I've accumulated a list of the top 10 best Audi's to work on. With a few not-so-honorable mentions.
10- 2008 A4: The last year of the B7 A4 chassis. A carbon copy of the B6 chassis with a different motor. However, in 2008 they started to move to newer parts. Which makes the 08 just as simple to work on as any other 2005-2008, just with the added annoyance of finding the right parts.
9: 1997-2002 S4: The B5 chassis S4 are a wonderful car don't get me wrong, but the engine is one of the worst to work on, the only upside to them is the parts are dirt cheap since they break so much.
8.: 2003-2008 S4: the worst financial mistake you can make. the 4.2L v8 sounded amazing, but my oh my was it a nightmare to work on. In some instances, it is actually advised by the DEALER to buy a new engine rather than fix the old one.. if that says anything.
7. 2013+ A4: a sweet mix of reliability and easy to work on. Everything is still fairly simple but modern, and just as easy to work on.
6. 2005-2012 TT: A sweet coupe, with even better handling. The only thing better? The simplicity and low repair costs.
5. 2013-2018 A8: The pinnacle of Audi luxury, and even better with the legendary 3.0T v6. This would be higher on the list but the A8 unfortunately is rather expensive when it comes to suspension repairs compared to normal A-lines.
4. 2002-2004 A4: The perfect blend of simple and modern. The same old tried and true 1.8T with all the modern interior luxuries. All while still being cheap to maintain.
3. 1983-1992 Audi 100: Who could possibly ignore the gems that are the classic Audi's. Despite their age and lack of OEM part supply. They still continue to drive. Even after years of abuse.
2. 2013-2018 S4: Lots of S4's on this list. This generation S4 is different though. Equipped with the same 3.0T as the A8 but with more performance and less to break. With the newly revised transmission, these cars are bulletproof and known to drive WELL over 200K without anything but common repairs.
1. 2016-2018 A6: The best of everything. The perfect blend of performance and luxury. All while still being simple. These cars are equipped with the most modern 3.0T. Ready to make 500hp+ with a simple tune, and will easily reach 300k+ miles. Maybe I'm biased since I own one, but to me, there is no other winner.
