The Future of DIY

The future of DIY is grim. Cars keep getting crazier to work on. Simple things like changing a headlight can require removing a bumper entirely (I'm looking at you chevy equinox.) And the diagnostic processes and equipment keep getting crazier and crazier. just 15 years ago only a handful of Euro automakers required special tools to read all the check engine codes off their cars. Now every manufacturer has their own standard to get ALL the data off the cars. This makes it harder and harder for the average joe to work on their car. It's almost not worth it to buy certain used cars because of this. If there isn't a warranty, run away basically. However, these issues will only get worse and worse. Electric vehicles are going to storm the market. With many countries pledging to remove gas/diesel engines entirely off the road by 2035. Once electric is the common place DIY will be as good as dead. Not many people will want to mess with such high voltages at home, and I don't blame them. The DIY future looks frim for cars. Unless some laws are passed to allow enthusiasts access to gas in the future the car community as a whole will suffer a great loss.
